This is a magazine cover designed by me for Typography 1. This is supposed to be a Special Edition issue for Champaign-Urbana's Buzz Weekly magazine. The function of this cover is to advertise one of the best things to do in Champaign-Urbana, going to Curtis Orchard! It's one of my personal favorites. This will make people want to buy the magazine, and it will make people want to go to Curtis Orchard.

Vinylmation
This is a box for Disney Vinylmation figures. They are small 3 inch figures in the shape of Mickey Mouse, but they have a Disney character printed on them. I collect these figures, and they are so awesome. When I pick one out, I use the box to help me decide because the figure is a mystery . You don't know what figure you are going to get you only know the theme. The boxes are about as cool as the figures. They are so creative! Each side is different. They are all clean, crisp, and bright. The function of the box is to catch a buyer's eye with its bright fun colors and designs so they want to buy it, and then it helps the buyer choose which theme they want to purchase.Monday, November 3, 2014

This is one of many cook books at my house. The peach cake looks delicious. It tells you right on the cover that this is a really good recipe. The cover is cleanly laid out and brings attention to the cake. It is eye catching because of the title and the cake. Parade Magazine
I found this issue of Parade magazine on my coffee table at home. Parade magazine comes every Sunday with The Newz Gazette. This issue, in particular, caught my eye. The bold white lettering really stood out on the red background, and once I looked at the title, I began reading the article. That was exactly what the cover was supposed to do. It's function was to catch the attention of someone so they will want to read the rest of the magazine. The cover was designed very nice. It was informative, clean, and easy to read. It encouraged me to read next weeks issue.

High Noon
This week I was in Florida. It was hot and sunny. High Noon Beach Resort is where I was staying. This is a t-shirt my mom got. Their logo was so cool! It's fun and bright and the little lizard is really cute. It's also very nice and clean. The function of this t-shirt is to help advertise for the resort so more people will stay there.

Fresh Heinz
I came across this advertisement in a magazine I was reading. Right away this caught my attention. Food is an eye catcher. When I see this ad, it made my want to buy Heinz ketchup rather than another ketchup because this make me think of fresh tomatoes. It made me forget about all the other processed things and other unhealthy ingredients that are in it. The function of this advertisement was made to sell Heinz ketchup. Whoever designed this did a fantastic job because I wanted to buy it right away.

Not Your Normal H2O!
This is just normal water, right? No! It is fresh natural artesian water. It comes from the tropical island of Fiji!
Okay lets be honest it is just water, but the design makes it intriguing and makes you think about those things. They want to SELL their product. That is the function of this bottle's design, to sell their product. This bottle is very appealing compared to many other water bottles. It is square and not round, which is a cool difference. The logo, along with bright pictures, fill the whole bottle. The whole bottle is eye catching, bright, and very well designed. I am a personal fan of Fiji water. You should really try it.

Time To Go Racing

This is a 1985 Official Program for the Western Eastern Roadracers Association. This program includes many different advertisements for different racing companies and has summaries of past road racing champions. This was given to my dad by his friend who was, at one point, number two in the nation for road racing. For a small program, it is very well done. New ones were made for each race. The function of this program is to inform racers and fans of the latest racer standings and to sell racing equipment. It looks as though a lot was put into the design for this piece. I love the bright colors and the 3D look of the picture. It shows the movement of the bikes and racers. It is not just a flat boring picture.

Who's the Weird Looking Donkey Over There?
I absolutely love Disney!!!! Frozen has now become one of my favorite Disney movies of all time. If you mention anything reminding me of Frozen, I will sing! Haha. I have came across this picture a few times on Pinterest. It was designed by a man named Matt Taylor, who has also made other movie posters in this fashion, and they are beautiful. I think this poster is very pretty. It is so much different than the posters Disney usually uses for advertisements. The colors Taylor used are very bold and they represent the characters well. The function of this poster is to promote all kinds of Frozen products so people will buy them. It's Disney. You can't go wrong with Disney!
